Gannett Fleming uses a Web-based project collaboration extranet
software to organize, store, view, and communicate about files
over the Internet. Gannett Fleming's in-house Project Web Collaboration
service is hosted on a dedicated dual-Pentium III, Microsoft IIS,
80 gigabyte Windows NT Web server, located at our headquarters in
Harrisburg, PA. The Project Collaboration Web server is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, anywhere in the
world. The system may be accessed anywhere you have a Web browser
and an Internet connection.

Virtual File Cabinet
A good analogy for our Project Collaboration Web service is that
of a Virtual File Cabinet. Each folder (drawer) contains different
information relating to the overall project. The subfolders can
contain project documents and drawings, action items, task and schedule
information, project communications, and other relevant project
information. Any type of digital file can be uploaded to the site,
just as you would on an FTP site.
Completely Secure
Only users who are assigned a password may log in to the Web site.
Users only see the project's folders and files that they are given
access to; everything else is hidden. The system is based on the
Windows NT security model, which means that there is a high level
of security customization that is available. To use the Virtual
File Cabinet analogy, some of the drawers may be locked with limited
keys, while others may be kept unlocked at all times.
